|a There is an expected age gap between partners in both heterosexual and homosexual relationships. While this gap is an international phenomenon, in the United States the average gap in a heterosexual relationships is 7 years (Cozby & Bates, 2015). The current study minimizes the scale from all ages across the country to specifically college students on the SUNY Oswego campus. The study tests the generalizability of the national average for age preferences, determining if these students are a unique population. The current study also incorporates Life History Theory by recording and comparing population densities from participants' high school zip codes. It is hypothesized that the population density for the zip code will determine the age preferences based on fast and slow life history strategies. The mean for collecting data for the study is an online questionnaire open to all Oswego psychology students through the SONA system. Data collection is ongoing.
