|a Climate and Weather on Mars Professor Scott Steiger (Meteorology)
Unlike Mercury and the moon, Mars has an atmosphere, as does Venus and the Earth. The presence of the Martian atmosphere allows Mars to have a unique climate with interesting weather phenomena. Mars has about the same axial tilt and rate of rotation as Earth, but its larger distance from the sun, the lack of oceans, and a very low density Carbon Dioxide atmosphere lead to climate and weather substantially different than the Earth. Mars is significantly colder and dryer than the Earth. Details of some interesting forms of Martian weather will be discussed in this talk. |
