Notes
Abstract:
Introduction to Mars by John Zielinski (Physics). The landing of the Perseverance rover on Mars in February has focused the attention of the public on this planet again. Mars is one of four terrestrial (Earthlike) planets that orbit the sun relatively close to the sun. Many characteristics of Mars are similar to Earth while some are considerably different. This talk will provide some basic information about Mars that will be useful to the understanding of the following talks about Martian geology and meteorology and the history of the exploration of Mars.
